Trained and Certified in Collaborative Family Law, Qualified for court-appointment as a Mediator and as a Mediator of suits affecting the parent-child relationship and other family disputes in accordance with the requirements of Sections 154.052 and 154.052(a), Texas Civil Practice and Remedies Code. Certified as an attorney ad litem in Texas courts pursuant to Section 646(b), Subpart E, Part 2, Chapter XIII, Texas Probate Code and Section 81.114, Section 3, Subchapter H, Chapter 81, Texas Government Code.

Former community activities

 

 

·     Saginaw Area Chamber of Commerce, Chairman

·     Created the Saginaw Area Chamber of Commerce Real Estate Council which recruits and represents the real estate industry members in the chamber. This won the 2003 Economic Development Project award of the Texas Chamber Executives Association. Currently working on a builder’s initiative to foster networking between Realtors and Builders.

·     Leadership Fort Worth, newsletter editor and strategic planning committee member – publish the newsletter. Planning committee for the educational programs for the candidates and members.

·     Allied Theatre Group (Stage West and Fort Worth Shakespeare Festival), President – Brought in to attempt to restructure the theater after it had accumulated heavy debt. Hired managing director. Recruited board members and appointed committee chairs. Using consensus building management made the unpopular decision to cancel the summer festival. Worked closely with the foundations and private supporters to keep them fully informed and have so far been able to save the theater.

·     Shakespeare in the Park, President (two terms) – hired executive director, headed successful fund raising campaign to save the program, extensive volunteer work in the park

·     Leadership Fort Worth board member and legal advisor – created merger of Forum Fort Worth and Leadership Fort Worth, created by-laws, edited newsletter, chaired member services committee

·     Forum Fort Worth, Chairman – upgraded newsletter, expanded and upgraded programs, instituted task force review committees

·     Leadership Keller, board member - selected new members, set policy, raised money, advised board on how other leadership groups operated

·     Tarrant County United Way Allocation Sub-Committee, Chairman – headed review of programs of six non-profit agencies to insure compliance and to make recommendations for funding

·     Fort Worth Transportation Authority (The T), Chairman – made public speeches in successful campaign to create the Authority, headed transition of Citran to the Authority, hired first law firm for the Authority, represented the Authority at Texas DOT public hearings on state funding

·     Fort Worth Citizens Cable Board, Chairman – one of the founding members, helped develop community access guidelines, oversaw contract compliance by private provider

·     Longhorn Council of the Boy Scouts of America -

    • Council Commissioner – had joint responsibility with the Executive Director and the President of the Council for all policy decisions for the Council during two terms. Instrumental in the merger of the Longhorn Council with the Heart of Texas Council which expanded it to cover 33 counties. Headed the council commissioners’ corps which had the responsibility of insuring that all units met BSA guidelines and completed annual renewal requirements. Headed ad hoc com unit disciplinary committee.
    • Council Vice President – oversaw Learning for Life program and worked with staff to expand it into additional schools. Worked directly with Executive Director on real estate and estate issues of the council. Served on the executive committee.
    • District Chairman – headed the district that had both suburban, LDS and all of the Fort Worth urban units. Responsible for all aspects of the scouting program in that district. Recruited and appointed all committee chairs during my two terms in that position.
    • Cub Master – leader of a cub pack. Worked with the pack committee and pack to insure that there was a strong, ongoing program for the cub scouts.

·     Builders Association Legislative Committee – lobbied the state legislature on issues important to the home builders in Tarrant County.

·     Texas Boys Choir Executive Board – headed the real estate committee when they built a new building.

·     Senior Citizens Centers Board – helped develop policy for the running of the Senior Citizens centers of Fort Worth.

 

 

Political activity

 

 

1988 Candidate for Judge of Tarrant County Court at Law #3 – received the endorsements of the Tarrant County Bar Association and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
